Privacy notice
How we look after your information
The Life In My City Art Foundation (“LIMCAF”, “we”) runs this website and the Life in My City Art Festival. This notice explains what personal information we collect through the website, why, and the choices and rights you have under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
What we collect
- Applications and open calls — your name, email, phone number, and the answers and files you submit (for example images of your work, a portfolio, your state or regional centre, and, where a call asks for it, your date of birth to confirm eligibility).
- Event registrations — your name and email (and phone, if you give it). Ticketed events are handled by our ticketing partner Luma, whose own privacy policy also applies.
- Messages sent through our contact, partnership and support forms.
- Newsletter — your email address, if you subscribe.
We don't use advertising trackers, and we don't sell personal information.
Why we use it
- To run the festival and its programmes: reviewing applications, organising exhibitions and events, contacting applicants, finalists and winners.
- To send you what you asked for, such as event passes, confirmations and newsletters.
- To reply to your messages.
We rely on your consent (given on each form) and on our legitimate interest in running a public arts festival. You can withdraw consent or unsubscribe at any time.
What is published
Your contact details are never published. If you are selected as a finalist or winner, we may publish your name, region, artwork title, medium and images of your work, as LIMCAF has done since 2007. Artist portraits are only shown with the artist's permission.
Who we share it with
Only the LIMCAF team and, for applications, the festival's juries and regional coordinators. We use trusted service providers to run the website — hosting (Vercel), database (Neon), file storage (Cloudflare), email delivery and event ticketing (Luma). Some of these store data outside Nigeria; we use providers that protect it with appropriate safeguards.
How long we keep it
Applications are kept for the festival year they relate to and for our archive of finalists and winners. Messages and registrations are kept for as long as needed to deal with them. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, object to how we use it, or receive a copy. Email lifeinmycityart@gmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (ndpc.gov.ng).
