Ngozi Omeje: from a young participant to a recognised contemporary artist

She entered the very first festival in 2007. Seven years later she won it. Today she exhibits nationally and internationally.

Ngozi Omeje was part of Life in My City from the start: she exhibited at the first festival in Enugu in 2007, while training as a ceramist at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

In 2011 her suspended clay work She Bleeds took second prize. In 2014 she won the festival outright with Placenta — hundreds of clay beads suspended on wire inside a perspex frame.

From a young participant in LIMCAF to a recognised contemporary artist, Ngozi has gone on to exhibit nationally and internationally, with growing critical acclaim.

Her path is exactly what LIMCAF was built for: discovery, recognition and a platform to keep growing.
